Congratulations to Mike for taking first place in outdoor scenic photography and three writing categories at the 2018 Hoosier Outdoor Writers competition in April. 
Mike won "Best Outdoor Scenic Photo," and also took writing firsts in Conservation (over 1,000 words), General Outdoors (over 1,000 words), and
Conservation (under 1,000 words). All awards were sponsored by Toyota Corporation.

Lunsford Speaks at Ashboro School Reunion

Mike was honored with a Polaris Award on Monday, March 21 at a ceremony at the Red Barn in Terre Haute.  The Polaris is awarded by Terre Haute North High School for "Patriots of Purpose."  Shown from left to right are, Anne Riddle, North Principal Robin Smith, Mike, Polaris recipient Greg Gibson, Polaris recipient Dima Elissa, and Vigo County School Corporation Superintendent Danny Tanoos.  Mike was nominated for the award by Joey Bennett and Jean Shutt for his lifetime of teaching and his advocacy of reading and writing for children.

Mike's main goal was to build a writing cabin in conjunction with the Eli Lilly Teacher Creativity Grant he received.  Here is the cabin as it stands in mid-October. Really nice, great craftsmanship!

Ten writers from across the Wabash Valley came to the Clinton Public Library on April 12 as part of the library's celebration of National Library Week. The authors, whose topics were as diverse as historical fiction set in Nova Scotia to a murder investigation across the state line in Illnois,signed and sold books and interacted with one another.
